5 Ways to Make Your Bedroom Feel More Luxurious

When it comes to bedrooms we all want pretty much the same thing, right? Comfort. Everyone has a different version of style when it comes to decorating their own space and making it cozy. Along the way of decorating my own home, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks on how you can make your bedroom look and feel more relaxing/luxurious. You don’t have to break the bank in order to make your bedroom feel more restful. Below are some tips on how you can achieve this!

Tip #1. Color, texture, pattern.

I heard this phrase years ago and it’s always stuck with me. It is probably one of the most basic lessons when it comes to interior design. When you are choosing materials for any room, you want it to fit your vibe and personal style. Finding the materials that have all three of these elements will help brighten your space all while giving it character.  An example of this would be:

Texture– Adding a cute wicker basket to the corner of your bedroom.

Pattern– Use pillows, curtains, or blankets that have some sort of pattern or design on them. For a bonus you can always add pillows with tassels or fringe.

Color– This one is pretty straight forward. All you need to do is find a color that best suits your theme and add some pops here and there.

Tip #2: Oversized Pillows.

Women are already stereotyped when it comes to owning throw pillows, but I am giving you permission to have as many as you want. Nevermind what the haters say 😉 An easy trick I learned is to use oversized throw pillows. My personal favorite are the ones made from down (the kind you can karate chop in the center and it will stay in place). Something about adding a pair of matching, oversized pillows to your bed makes the space pop.

Tip #3: Use a BIGGER comforter than the size of your bed.

Humor me for a second. Growing up I had a pet peeve when I’d go to make my bed. My bed was a queen size, and the comforter would barely cover the sides of my mattress. I used to be so confused why it didn’t at least go down to the bedskirt. So, one day I had an epiphany. “Why not buy a king size comforter, just to see what happens?”. It was the answer to all of my problems and the end of being annoyed while making my bed.

This is making me sound like a neat freak or someone who always makes my bed. I was and still am a very messy person, but this whole comforter hack truly has made a difference. The only thing you need to be aware of is, when you buy a king size comforter set it comes with pillow shams for King size pillows. So know what to expect when purchasing the King set. *This tip is best for a Double or Queen size mattress.

Tip #4: Fur

If you’ve kept up with some of the trends you most likely know that faux furs are “in” right now. Adding something as simple as a fur or sheepskin to the end of your bed will give it both texture and a luxurious look. Not to mention it’s a cozy spot for a nap. You can find faux furs most anywhere online or at the nearest Home Goods or World Market.

Our bedroom has a lot of neutrals which makes it easy to change the decor.

Tip #5: Incorporate Natural Elements

This goes hand in hand with the “texture” tip in tip number one. If you really want to step it up a notch and make your bedroom feel more luxurious, then this tip is for you. When you add natural elements such as wood, marble or wicker it enhances the mood instantly. Depending on your style you may want to add a marble if you like the more modern look. Something as simple as a nightlight with a marble base can make your room look more polished. I personally like to blend different materials to create a more whimsical, bohemian feel in my house, but that is the beauty of creativity. We all have a unique style that shines through when decorating. What better way to show it off than in our own home?
